Chasteuil

As the copilot, I keep my eyes peeled to the left, searching for that sneaky dirt road through a myriad of oak trees and dense chaparral, that spirals northwest toward the obvious picturesque crop of limestone. Suddenly, it appears, and we make a quick left, down the winding and chunky dirt road that appears to be only one half lane wide. To say it was narrow is an understatement. With each twist and turn, anticipation builds as we climb the steep incline in our five speed rental car, finally reaching the surprisingly empty parking area at the trail head near the base of this stunning, remote climbing destination. The views from the cliff base are breathtaking.
